Hwange National Park Main Camp

Established Campground

Main Camp serves as headquarters for Zimbabwe’s largest national park, with basic camping facilities alongside more developed lodges. The campground features ablution blocks, communal kitchens, and designated fire areas under massive indigenous trees. Elephants frequently move through camp — they have right of way. The nearby hide overlooks a productive waterhole where game viewing is spectacular, especially May through October when animals concentrate around permanent water.

Access via tar road from Hwange town, then 15km of maintained dirt to camp. Self-catering essential — bring all food and drinking water or purchase at the camp shop with limited selection. Advance booking mandatory through Zimbabwe Parks authority. Generator hours restricted to protect the wilderness experience. This is raw Africa camping at its finest.
