Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park Mpila Rest Camp
Mpila sits on a ridge overlooking the White iMfolozi River valley in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal’s premier game reserve. The camp offers safari tents, chalets, and camping sites with shared ablution blocks and a communal kitchen. Nights fill with the sounds of hyenas, lions, and the occasional elephant wandering through camp. The shop stocks basic supplies, but bring everything you need — this is proper bush country.
Book well ahead during South African school holidays and winter months when the weather’s bearable. The access road from the main gate is tar but gets rough in spots after heavy rains. This is Big Five country with a serious elephant population, so secure all food and scented items religiously.
