Halls Creek Caravan Park — Kimberley Desert Town Campground

Halls Creek Caravan Park sits right in town and serves as the primary basecamp for overlanders finishing or starting the Canning Stock Route’s northern terminus via the Kidson Track and Lake Gregory corridor. You’ve got powered and unpowered sites, hot showers, a dump station, and access to the servo and IGA across town. It’s not pretty — it’s a flat red-dirt lot with a few trees — but after weeks on the CSR, a shower and a cold beer from town feel like the Ritz. Busy through the dry season (May–September) when CSR traffic peaks.

Access is straightforward — Halls Creek is on the Great Northern Highway, sealed all the way. Use this as your debrief camp, restock fuel, water, and tyres before or after the run. Mobile signal is decent in town. Dust, heat, and flies are non-negotiable fixtures. Book ahead in peak season — word travels fast on the CSR grapevine and sites fill.
