Gila National Forest Mogollon Baldy Dispersed Sites

Dispersed Camping

Several primitive sites scattered along forest roads near New Mexico’s highest wilderness peaks at 9,000+ feet elevation. Sites tucked in aspen groves and mountain meadows with seasonal streams and epic views. Popular with hunters in fall and backpackers in summer. Fire restrictions common during dry spells. Vault toilet at nearby Willow Creek Campground.

Access via Forest Road 142 from Glenwood, 20 miles of rough mountain dirt requiring high-clearance and careful driving. Snow closes roads November through May. Road deteriorates quickly after monsoons — check conditions at Glenwood Ranger District.
