Finke Gorge National Park Palm Valley Campground
This isolated campground sits in Palm Valley, home to ancient Red Cabbage Palms that have survived here since the continent was wetter millions of years ago. The 20 sites are spread along Finke River among red sandstone cliffs and ghost gums. Drop toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, but no water — carry everything you need. Sites fill quickly during cooler months, and the access track gets rough after rain.
The 16km 4WD-only track from Hermannsburg ranges from corrugated to rocky creek crossings. High-clearance 4WD essential, and check conditions at Hermannsburg Store before heading in. Park gates lock at sunset — no late arrivals.
