Dinsho Park Headquarters Campsite — Bale Mountains National Park
Dinsho is the park headquarters for Bale Mountains National Park, and the camping here is the standard first night before you head up onto the Sanetti Plateau. It sits in a patch of highland woodland and grass at roughly 3,100 meters, so expect frost at night and a hard cold morning even in the dry season. Mountain nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck and warthog commonly graze around the HQ grounds, which makes it one of the easier places in Ethiopia to see endemic wildlife without hiking. Park staff can arrange scouts and guides, and the visitor center is worth a stop.
Dinsho is on the main paved road between Dodola and Goba, so any vehicle gets in. From here the Sanetti road climbs the plateau and drops south toward the Harenna Forest. Facilities are basic and change over time. Confirm camping fees, park entry fees and current conditions with park staff or a local operator before you commit. Bring everything you need, including warm sleeping gear. Have a dirty day.
