Dease Lake Village — BC Parks Tanzilla Campground
Tanzilla Campground sits just outside the village of Dease Lake on the Stewart-Cassiar Highway (Hwy 37), managed by BC Parks. It’s a simple, low-frills camp — a handful of sites tucked into the boreal, with outhouses and fire rings. No hookups, no showers, no cell towers. What it has is access: you’re at the junction of Hwy 37 and the Dease Lake area, making it the natural basecamp for anyone running the Dease Lake to Iskut River High Road or staging for further northwest travel toward the Yukon border.
Dease Lake village itself is a small but functional resupply point — there’s a gas station, a Northern Savings Credit Union, and a few basic provisions available in town. Stock up here before heading into the Iskut corridor or northbound toward the Yukon. Roads into the backcountry from here transition from paved to gravel fast. Season runs roughly May through September. Expect cold nights even in July at this latitude.
Gateway camp for the Iskut River country.
