Congdon Creek Territorial Campground — Kluane Lake
Congdon Creek sits on the northwest shore of Kluane Lake at roughly Mile 1066 of the Alaska Highway — a proper territorial campground run by Yukon Parks with pull-through sites, pit toilets, and direct lake access. The backdrop is raw: the Kluane Range rises behind you, Dall sheep are regularly spotted on the slopes above, and the lake stretches south toward Destruction Bay. It’s a legit basecamp for exploring the north end of Kluane, staging the Donjek Route, or just recovering after a long haul up the Alaska Highway.
The access road off the Alaska Highway is short and easy — any rig makes it. Busy in July and August with Alaska-bound travelers. Fires allowed in designated rings; check for seasonal restrictions. Managed by Yukon Government, fees apply. Opens typically late May through early September.
