Clearwater National Forest — Lolo Creek Corridor Dispersed Camp

Lolo Creek drains the southern slope of the Bitterroots, and the forest road paralleling it is classic Clearwater country — tall Doug fir canopy, creek noise at night, and enough flat ground scattered along the corridor to drop a full rig setup without crowding anyone. No designated sites, just pull-offs where previous campers have figured it out. Fire rings appear in the better spots. Busy on summer weekends when hunters and Lolo Motorway runners stage here before heading up FR 500.

Access via US-12 east of Kooskia; the Lolo Creek Road branches off and follows the creek toward the upper Motorway entry points. Road surface varies from decent gravel to rougher dirt depending on recent maintenance. Cell signal is essentially gone once you’re a mile or two up the drainage. Confirm fire restrictions with Clearwater NF — the Bitterroots can go to Stage 2 fast in July and August.
