Cisco Boat Launch and Dispersed Camping

Dispersed Camping

This BLM area sits where the Colorado River cuts through rust-colored sandstone, creating natural benches perfect for camp setup. Half a dozen established fire rings dot the shoreline and upper terraces, with room for maybe 15 rigs total when spread out. The river access makes it popular with rafters putting in for Westwater Canyon, but overlanders use it as a quiet basecamp for exploring the Moab backcountry without the crowds.

Access is via a well-maintained dirt road that any vehicle can handle, though the final quarter-mile to the best sites requires high clearance for rock steps. No facilities whatsoever — pack out everything. Spring and fall are prime; summer gets brutally hot with zero shade. River levels fluctuate seasonally, affecting the boat ramp usability but not the camping.
