Caddo Lake Cypress Bayou Paddling Access
This primitive concrete ramp drops into Cypress Bayou, one of the most atmospheric sections of Caddo Lake. The access point sits under towering bald cypress trees draped in Spanish moss, with dark tannin-stained water disappearing into narrow channels. It’s a portal into an ancient ecosystem — part Texas, part Louisiana bayou country. The parking area holds maybe 6 vehicles, and there’s a basic pit toilet but no other facilities.
Access is via a narrow dirt road that can get muddy after rain. This is primarily a paddling access point, but it offers a glimpse into the mysterious side of East Texas that most overlanders never see. Best visited during cooler months when mosquitoes are manageable and water levels are stable.
