Burro Creek Dispersed Camping Area

Creek-side desert camping along a rare year-round water source in the Mohave Mountains northwest of Wickenburg.

Scattered sites line both sides of Burro Creek where it cuts through desert foothills, creating Arizona’s unexpected oasis camping. The creek runs year-round, supporting cottonwoods and mesquite that provide decent shade. Sites accommodate 10-15 rigs comfortably, with natural spacing along the creek bottom. Popular with hunters October through December and gets busy during cooler months.

Access from Burro Creek Road (rough gravel) requires high-clearance but not 4WD. Creek crossings can be challenging during flash floods — avoid during monsoon storms. Water from creek requires filtration. Area closes periodically for wildlife protection.
