Brandywine Creek State Park Back Country Trail Dispersed Sites
Several unofficial camping areas scattered along the backcountry trail system in Brandywine Creek State Park’s northern section. Sites are tucked into former farm fields now reverting to forest, with good spacing and natural windbreaks from old fence rows. Popular with equestrians and backpackers, but sees regular overlander use from folks exploring the Brandywine Valley. No facilities — this is true leave-no-trace territory.
Access from the main park road via the maintenance road near the old Dupont family estate ruins. Trail surface is grass and dirt, manageable for most vehicles with decent ground clearance. Park gates close at sunset, so you’ll need to coordinate timing. Best in spring and fall when humidity is lower.
