BLM White Mountain Dispersed Area
Scattered camping spots along Forest Service roads below the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest, offering stunning views across the Owens Valley to the Sierra Nevada. Sites range from pull-offs accommodating single rigs to larger clearings that can handle multiple vehicles. Elevation sits around 8,000-9,000 feet, so nights get cold even in summer. Fire restrictions often apply May through October.
Access via Westgard Pass Road from Highway 6, then Forest Service roads requiring high-clearance vehicles. Snow closes upper elevations November through April. No facilities whatsoever — pack out everything and bring your own water. Cell service is nonexistent.
