BLM Needles Eye Dispersed Area
Primitive camping scattered across BLM land adjacent to Canyonlands National Park’s Needles District. Red rock formations provide natural windbreaks and stunning sunrise/sunset views. Popular spots include clearings near Elephant Hill access and along Salt Creek Road. Capacity varies widely by site — from single-rig pull-offs to areas accommodating 6-8 vehicles. No facilities, no water, pack everything out.
Access requires high-clearance 4WD vehicles for most sites. Roads turn to deep sand and slickrock in places. Summer temperatures exceed 100°F regularly, making spring and fall prime seasons. Winter camping possible but expect freezing nights. No cell service anywhere in the area.
