Blackfoot KOA Journey — Snake River Plain Staging Camp
Not glamorous, but it gets the job done. The Blackfoot KOA sits on the edge of the Snake River Plain, about 25 miles from the BLM lava fields and Caribou-Targhee dispersed zones to the north. It’s a commercial camp with hookups, a dump station, showers, and a camp store — the kind of place you hit before or after a few nights roughing it on the volcanic plateau. Sites are level gravel, some shade from planted trees, and the staff are generally solid with local intel. Closest full-service camp to the Hells Half Acre corridor.
Located off US-91 just south of Blackfoot. Paved all the way in. Open most of the year. If you’re running the volcanic plateau loop and want a hot shower and electric hookup on the bookends, this is your spot. Reserve ahead in peak summer — potato harvest season in September gets surprisingly busy.
