Black Hills National Forest Spearfish Canyon Dispersed Area
Primitive sites scattered along Spearfish Creek in a dramatic limestone canyon lined with 1,000-foot walls. Most spots are tucked between ponderosa pines with creek access and established fire rings. Popular area that fills quickly Memorial Day through Labor Day. Bridal Veil Falls trailhead is 2 miles downstream.
Access via Spearfish Canyon Scenic Byway (Highway 14A) then Forest Road 222. Road can be rough in spots but passable for most vehicles. Creek crossings may be impassable during spring runoff. Fire restrictions common mid-summer. Pack out all trash.
