Numerous dispersed sites scattered throughout the historic Holcomb Valley, accessed via a network of dirt roads winding between granite outcrops and pine forest. Sites range from roadside pull-offs to secluded spots tucked among boulders. Area gets busy with LA weekend warriors but thins out mid-week. Snow closes access roughly December through March, sometimes longer.
Main access via paved Big Bear Boulevard to dirt Van Dusen Canyon Road or Polique Canyon Road. Most sites accessible to high-clearance 2WD, though some require 4WD. Fire restrictions typically June through September. Historic mining remnants scattered throughout — respect and don’t disturb.
