Scattered along the western shore of Angostura Reservoir are numerous unmarked camping spots that offer direct lake access and Black Hills views. Sites range from sandy beach areas perfect for kayak launching to higher bluff spots with better wind protection. Most spots can handle rigs up to 30 feet, though some require careful positioning. No facilities here – pack it in, pack it out.
Access via various gravel roads off US-385 south of Hot Springs. Roads can get muddy after rain, and some spots flood during high water periods in spring. Popular with locals on weekends, but plenty of space to spread out. Fire restrictions often in effect during summer months.
