This mountain hut and camping area sits at 500m elevation between Landmannalaugar and Þórsmörk, serving as a key waypoint for highland traverses. The site offers tent platforms, basic toilet facilities, and a warming hut with cooking space. Spectacular views of Torfajökull glacier and the colorful rhyolite mountains. Space for about 75 tents across multiple terraced areas, with running water from a nearby stream.
Accessible via F208 from late June through September, requires high-clearance 4WD due to river crossings and rough volcanic terrain. Popular with both hikers and overlanders doing the highland circuit. Book ahead during peak summer months as it fills quickly with Laugavegur trekkers.
