Adcock River Gorge — Gibb River Road Hidden Swim Hole

Adcock Gorge sits roughly 7 km north of the Gibb River Road, accessed via a short 4WD track and a quick walk through spinifex and pandanus. The gorge cuts through Devonian reef limestone, dropping into a clear permanent pool that’s deep enough to swim and shaded by overhanging walls for most of the morning. It’s far less trafficked than Bell or Manning, which makes it a worthwhile stop mid-traverse when you need a rinse and a reset. No facilities, no crowds — just rock, water, and silence.

Access track is rough but manageable for most capable 4WDs. The gorge is on Imintji Aboriginal land — a small fee is typically payable at Imintji Community Store. Dry season only (May–October). Water levels are permanent but check for crocodile signage before swimming — this far inland saltwater crocs are unlikely, but freshies can be present.
