Gerlach — Bruno’s Country Club and Black Rock Desert Gateway
Gerlach sits at the southern edge of the Black Rock Desert playa and is the last stop for fuel, food, and human contact before you head into the Calico Mountains or across the playa toward High Rock Canyon. Bruno’s Country Club is the heart of town — fuel pumps, a bar, a restaurant, and a motel all under one roof. The staff knows the roads and conditions better than anyone. Population is under 500 but the place punches above its weight when it comes to welcoming dusty overlanders rolling through.
SR-447 runs through town, connecting to Reno to the south — about 100 miles of mostly paved road. Stock up fully here: water, fuel, food, propane. The BLM Winnemucca District has a presence in Gerlach seasonally. Cell signal is spotty at best in town, nonexistent once you leave. If the playa is wet, locals will tell you straight.
Last fuel and cold beer. Stock up here.
