Lost Trail Campground — Gunnison National Forest
Lost Trail Campground is a quiet, small-capacity camp along the Lake Fork Gunnison River drainage, southeast of Lake City off CR 30. Eight sites set among willows and spruce — it’s got a creek-bottom feel with good shade and the sound of moving water. Popular with anglers working the Lake Fork, but overlanders use it as a low-key staging point before pushing south toward Cinnamon Pass or the Weminuche boundary. Vault toilets, fire rings, no drinking water — bring your own or treat from the creek. Fees are nominal and it rarely fills except peak July weekends.
Access via CR 30 is mostly good gravel; high-clearance 2WD handles it fine in dry conditions. Road can get greasy after rain. Season runs approximately June through September. No cell service down in the drainage.
