Summerhaven — Mount Lemmon Summit Village and Resupply

Summerhaven is a tiny residential and cabin community perched near the summit of Mount Lemmon at around 8,000 feet. After the 2003 Aspen Fire burned most of it down, it rebuilt slowly — but the Mount Lemmon Cookie Cabin and a small general store have made it a legitimate trail stop again. For overlanders running the Sawmill Canyon back road or the upper Catalina Highway, this is your only shot at food, water, and limited supplies before dropping back down. It’s a quirky little mountain town that genuinely shouldn’t exist at this elevation in the Sonoran Desert — and that’s exactly what makes it worth stopping at.

Fully paved access to town via the Catalina Highway. Limited fuel availability — verify before counting on it. The general store carries basic supplies. Summer weekends bring day-trippers up from Tucson, so expect foot traffic and parked cars. Elevation means cool temps even in July. Cell signal is better here than most of the mountain.
