Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest — Baker Creek Road Dispersed Camp

Pull off Baker Creek Road (Forest Road 001) in the Humboldt-Toiyabe and you’ve got open dispersed camping on BLM-adjacent national forest land just outside the Great Basin NP boundary. Sites are primitive — no infrastructure — with big views east toward the valley floor and west toward Wheeler Peak’s flanks. Pinyon pine and juniper provide some wind break. Light use except during the handful of weeks folks are hunting or in the thick of summer NP season.

Road is graded gravel to start, then roughens as you climb. High-clearance is smart; 4WD if it’s been wet. No water on-site — tank up in Baker before you come up. 14-day stay limit under standard USFS rules. Fire restrictions are common in late summer; check with Ely Ranger District before you build one.
