Molimo Nthuse Pass — God Help Me Pass Summit Viewpoint
Molimo Nthuse sits on the A3 highway roughly 60 km southeast of Maseru and marks the true psychological and geographical entry into the Lesotho highlands. The road corkscrews up the basalt escarpment through a series of tight switchbacks, and the pullout near the top delivers a panoramic view back across the foothills toward South Africa. On a clear morning the view stretches 50+ kilometres. The Molimo Nthuse Lodge sits just below the summit and serves as a landmark — a good spot to fuel up on tea and check tire pressures before heading deeper into the mountains.
The road surface on the A3 is mostly paved but sections near the pass can be rough and potholed, especially after winter frost heave. High-clearance is not required in dry conditions, but the grades are steep enough that overloaded or low-powered vehicles slow to a crawl. Watch for cattle and donkeys on the road — they own the right-of-way up here, and they know it.
God Help Me Pass — highlands begin here.
