Gran Sabana — Quebrada Pacheco Tepui Base Dispersed Camp
Off a rough track branching east from Troncal 10 in the southern Gran Sabana, the quebrada (creek) near Pacheco offers one of the more isolated dispersed pitches in the corridor. Flat sandstone-gravel ground, low scrub for windbreak, a working creek for non-potable water. The visual payoff is real — you are sleeping in the shadow of actual tepui walls. Zero infrastructure. Bring everything in and out. Open fires are prohibited within Canaima National Park; stove only. A valid INPARQUES park permit is required for the Gran Sabana sector — sort this out in Santa Elena before you roll.
The access track is short but rough dirt; 4WD recommended if there has been any recent rain. Wet season mud can close the track entirely. Dry season (November–April) is the sweet spot. Wildlife is active — giant anteaters, giant otters, and birds of prey are all documented in the area.
