Maun — Crocodile Camp Campsite

Crocodile Camp sits on the banks of the Thamalakane River on the eastern edge of Maun, and it’s been a legitimate overland staging ground for decades. Shaded pitches under large trees, a proper ablution block with hot showers, a bar and basic kitchen — it’s the kind of place you pull into filthy and leave feeling vaguely human again. Busy during high season (May–October) when the Okavango delta tourism machine is running full tilt, so book ahead if you’re rolling in late July. Campfire allowed on-site in designated areas.

Access is off the Maun–Shorobe road, signed from the main tar. Tarmac all the way in — even a roof-tent camper on a stock bakkie will manage fine. Good cell signal in town. Maun is your last major resupply before heading northeast toward Nata or north into the delta, so use it.
