Kolyma Highway — Yagodnoye River Bend Dispersed Camp

Dispersed Camping

Yagodnoye is the largest settlement on the middle Kolyma Highway stretch and a critical fuel and resupply point. On the southern approach, the Kolyma River bends close to the R504 and offers gravelly, open camping on the floodplain terraces that travellers have used for generations — both the Gulag-era road crews and the modern overlanders chasing the route. Flat ground, river water (treat it), and enough taiga edge nearby for firewood. No formal facilities; expect to share the area with the occasional Russian trucker or gold-mining supply convoy.

Yagodnoye town itself is a few kilometres off this pull-out and has fuel, basic groceries, and sometimes a mechanic. Confirm fuel availability before leaving Magadan — the mid-Kolyma section has long gaps. Season is strictly June through early September; the river terrace floods during spring melt and freezes hard from October onward.
