Strzelecki Creek — Montecollina Bore Dispersed Camp
Montecollina Bore sits roughly mid-route on the Strzelecki Track, right where Strzelecki Creek crosses the corridor. It’s been a watering and camping spot since droving days — flat gibber-and-clay ground, zero shade, zero infrastructure, total isolation. The bore itself has historically provided artesian water but do not rely on it as your only source without confirming flow status before you leave Lyndhurst or Innamincka. Nights are dead silent. Stars are absurd. You’ll likely have the place to yourself outside peak season.
The Strzelecki Track is unsealed and corrugated throughout — a high-clearance 4WD is non-negotiable, and a dual-spare-wheel setup is strongly recommended. The track can close entirely after significant rainfall — check with the Outback Communities Authority or SA DEW before departure. No facilities. No firewood. No cell signal. Self-sufficiency is not optional.
Mid-Strzelecki bore camp, zero frills.
