Dolgoch Falls — Snowdonia Southern Approach Water Source and Pull-In
Dolgoch Falls sits on the Nant Dolgoch stream in the Dysynni Valley near Abergynolwyn in Gwynedd, a solid water collection point on the southern approach to Snowdonia. The falls run strong most of the year through sessile oak woodland, and there’s a small car park off the B4405 with an established track to the water. The Talyllyn narrow-gauge railway runs nearby — a piece of living industrial history. It’s a functional staging stop, but the gorge woodland makes it worth the pause even if you’re just stretching your legs.
Water here needs treatment before drinking — collect from the cascade, not the pool below the footfall zone. The pull-in is short but navigable for most overlanders; anything over 7.5m will struggle with the car park. Mid-Wales gets overlooked in favour of Snowdonia proper, but this corridor is solid overlanding country — quieter roads, good rough ground to the east toward Cadair Idris. No hookups, no facilities beyond a basic car park.
