Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest — Thirtymile Campground
Thirtymile sits along the Chewuch River on Forest Road 51, roughly 30 miles north of Winthrop. Eleven sites, single-track forest feel, with the river running close enough to hear all night. Pit toilets on site, no drinking water — the Chewuch is right there but treat it before you drink. Sites accommodate most rigs; nothing massive will fit comfortably. Fire rings at each site. It fills up mid-summer, especially on weekends when Harts Pass traffic picks up.
FR 51 is a maintained gravel road — high-clearance 2WD handles it without drama when dry. Late spring can be muddy and early-season snowmelt sometimes closes the upper sections. No cell signal in the drainage. Operated by Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest; small fee camping.
