Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest — Rider’s Camp Campground
Rider’s Camp is a small developed USFS campground on the Twisp River Road (FR 44), roughly 14 miles west of Twisp. It sits in mixed conifer forest along the Twisp River and gives you a legit riverside camp with fire rings and vault toilets — nothing fancy, but solid. It’s the kind of site that fills up on summer weekends but stays manageable mid-week. This far up the valley the road is still paved, so any rig gets here without drama.
Use this as a staging camp for pushing higher on FR 44 toward War Creek or continuing toward the Harts Pass corridor. The river is right there for filtering if you need water. Fire restrictions typically come in mid-July — check USFS Methow Valley Ranger District before you light anything. The campground is usually accessible May through October depending on snowpack.
