Emigrant Springs State Heritage Area Campground
Sitting at about 3,800 feet in the Blue Mountains along old US 30, Emigrant Springs gives you tall ponderosa pines and actual shade — a genuine luxury when you’ve been grinding the high desert. It’s a developed Oregon State Parks campground with sites ranging from tent pads to full hookups, plus a group area. Interpretive signs cover the Oregon Trail history; emigrants camped here for the same reason overlanders do — it’s got water and trees. Weekends in summer see families, but it’s rarely slammed mid-week.
Located right off I-84 at exit 234 near Meacham, making it a legitimate resupply and rest stop between Hells Canyon runs and the Umatilla corridor. Cell signal is workable near the highway. Road in is paved. Oregon State Parks reservation system applies peak season — walk-ins often available shoulder season.
