Keno Hill — Silver Trail Summit Panorama and Historic Mine Headframe
Keno Hill towers above the tiny community of Keno City at the end of the Silver Trail, and a rough road climbs to its summit where the old United Keno Hill Mines infrastructure still stands. The panorama from up top is massive — the Stewart River valley stretching south, the McQuesten drainage east, and open alpine ridgeline in every direction. This was the heartbeat of one of Canada’s richest silver-mining districts, and the remaining headframes and ore bins are among the best-preserved industrial ruins in the Yukon. The Keno City Mining Museum in town provides solid context before the climb.
The summit road off the Keno City townsite is rough and steep — high-clearance is recommended, 4WD in wet conditions. Snow is possible on the summit any month of the year. The road gets gnarly after rain. No formal services at the top, but the views make it one of the better payoffs in the entire Silver Trail region.
