Unduavi Bridge Crossing

Historic single-lane bridge where the old Death Road crosses the Unduavi River — a critical checkpoint and photo spot on the notorious descent.

This narrow concrete bridge marks one of the most nerve-wracking sections of the Death Road, where vehicles must cross single-file over the churning Unduavi River far below. The bridge is solid but feels precarious with its low railings and the dramatic drop into the cloud forest valley. It’s become an iconic photo spot for Death Road travelers, with pull-offs on both sides.

Traffic moves one direction at a time — larger vehicles get priority. The approaches can be muddy and slick during rainy season (November-March). Many cyclists stop here to catch their breath and overlanders pause to check their nerves before continuing the descent toward Yolosa.
