Babine Lake — Pendleton Bay Recreation Site
Pendleton Bay Rec Site is a free, self-serve Forest Service site on Babine Lake’s northeast arm — Canada’s longest natural lake. It’s isolated enough that you won’t have RV convoys rolling in, but the access road is manageable for high-clearance rigs with a trailer if you pick your line. Expect a pit toilet, fire rings, and direct lake access for swimming or water (filter it). The surrounding mixed boreal forest is moose and loon country — bring your ears.
This spot earns its keep as an overnight for anyone running Tchesinkut Lake FSR or the Murray Ridge routes out of Burns Lake. It’s roughly 45 kilometres northeast of Burns Lake via Highway 16 and then north on local FSRs. Plan fuel in Burns Lake before committing — there’s nothing out here. Cell signal is nonexistent. Season runs late May through early October depending on snowpack.
Boreal lakeside camp deep in the Lakes District.
