Burns Lake — Esso Highway 16 Fuel and Resupply

Fuel Station

Burns Lake is your resupply anchor for anything heading into the Lakes District backcountry south and east of town. The Esso on Highway 16 handles diesel and regular fuel, and there’s grocery, hardware, and propane available in town within a few blocks. This is the jump-off point for Tchesinkut Lake FSR runs into the Murray Ridge area — fill every can here because you won’t see another pump until you’re back out. Small town, real people, no pretense.

Burns Lake sits at the intersection of Highway 16 and the central BC interior — it’s also a practical resupply for rigs coming off the Babine Mountains FSR routes out of Smithers heading west. The town has a basic motel, a hardware store, and a liquor store. Cell service is decent in town and drops fast once you head south on the FSRs. Verify fuel hours seasonally — small-town hours aren’t always reliable after 9 PM.

Last real fuel before the Lakes District FSRs.
