Popular backcountry access point into the Beartooth Wilderness with multiple alpine lake destinations and serious high-country terrain.

Major trailhead serving the Rock Creek drainage and providing access to dozens of alpine lakes in the Beartooth Wilderness. Large parking area can accommodate horse trailers and overlanders, though it fills up fast during peak summer weekends. Vault toilets and bear-proof food storage boxes available. Multiple trail options ranging from day hikes to multi-day wilderness routes.

Located about 6 miles south of Red Lodge via paved Rock Creek Road. Open roughly June through October depending on snowpack. Popular with both hikers and equestrian groups. Get here early during July and August if you want parking.
