Custer National Forest Bull Mountain Dispersed Area
Bull Mountain sits at 5,800 feet in the Beartooth foothills northeast of Billings, offering a handful of dispersed sites with sweeping views south toward the Yellowstone River. Sites are tucked into timber and aspen groves with natural windbreaks. Room for 6-8 rigs maximum, though most folks spread out along the ridge. Fire restrictions common June through September.
Access via Pryor Mountain Road, then Forest Road 3085 for the final 4 miles. Road gets rough the last mile — high-clearance recommended after spring melt. Snow closes access November through April. No water sources, and the nearest supplies are 45 minutes back in Red Lodge.
