White River National Forest Road 8 Dispersed Sites
Forest Road 8 stretches east from Meeker into the White River National Forest, offering a dozen scattered dispersed sites along the first 10 miles of decent gravel. Most sites sit in aspen groves with established fire rings and room for 2-3 rigs each. Popular with hunters in fall, nearly empty spring through summer. Fire restrictions typically in effect July through September.
Access is straightforward from Meeker via County Road 8, transitioning to Forest Road 8 after about 5 miles. Road stays reasonable for any high-clearance vehicle through the main camping zone, though it gets rougher as you climb toward the Flat Tops. Best water source is back in Meeker — bring what you need.
