Grand River National Grassland Cedar River Dispersed Area
Multiple informal camping spots spread along Cedar River’s cottonwood-lined banks in rolling grassland country. Sites range from creek-side spots under mature trees to elevated prairie positions with panoramic views. Most locations accommodate 2-3 vehicles with natural windbreaks from established groves. Fire restrictions apply during dry periods, but designated rings are present at established sites. The area attracts hunters in fall and occasional cattle grazing, but sees light recreational use overall.
Access via county road system west of Lemmon — follow signs toward Grand River National Grassland boundaries. Roads are maintained gravel initially, transitioning to two-track closer to camping areas. Spring and fall offer the best conditions; summer can be brutally hot with limited shade away from creek bottoms. Bring water and expect no cell service.
