Wayne National Forest Monday Creek Dispersed Area
Multiple primitive sites scattered along old mining roads that follow Monday Creek through a landscape of rolling hills and reclaimed strip mines. The contrast is striking — young forest growth over former coal country, with the creek providing a constant soundtrack. Sites are mostly level thanks to the mining history, with room for larger rigs. Popular with ATV riders and hunters, so expect company during hunting seasons.
Forest Road 266 provides main access off State Route 78. Roads can get muddy after rain but are generally passable with 2WD. Some sites are right along the creek, others set back on ridges. Water levels fluctuate seasonally — creek can be quite low in late summer. Peak usage during October bow season and spring turkey season.
