Superior National Forest Two Harbors Dispersed Area

Dispersed Camping

This dispersed area spans several forest service roads northeast of Two Harbors, with campsites tucked among birch and pine stands. Some sites sit close enough to Lake Superior for glimpses of the big water through the trees, while others are tucked deeper in the woods around small inland lakes and beaver ponds. Most spots can handle medium-sized rigs, though a few require careful maneuvering around trees and rocks.

Access is via multiple forest roads off Highway 61 — the main arteries are well-maintained gravel, but individual spur roads can get rough after heavy rains. Peak season brings weekend crowds from Duluth, so midweek visits offer better site selection. No services, pack it all out.
