Ouachita National Forest Fourche Mountain Dispersed Sites
Scattered pullouts and established fire rings dot the ridge road leading toward Mount Magazine, offering some of Arkansas’s most dramatic dispersed camping. Sites sit at 2,400+ feet elevation with sweeping views across the Arkansas River Valley and Petit Jean River bottoms. Most spots accommodate 2-3 vehicles with level ground for tents and small RVs. Fire restrictions apply during dry periods — check current conditions.
Forest Road 106 is gravel but well-maintained, accessible to most high-clearance vehicles. Sites fill quickly during fall color season (October) and hunting seasons. No facilities, so pack water and plan for pack-out camping. GPS can be unreliable on the ridgetops.
