Superior National Forest Echo Trail Dispersed Sites
Hidden sites along the 62-mile Echo Trail corridor accessing dozens of remote lakes and BWCAW entry points. Sites range from roadside pullouts to short hikes into the timber, most with established fire rings and lake access. Extremely popular during fishing opener and fall colors — arrive midweek for best selection. Bear country protocols essential.
Echo Trail starts near Ely and runs to International Falls, mostly good gravel suitable for any vehicle. Some spur roads to lake sites require high-clearance. Mosquitoes can be brutal June through August. Best fishing and fewer bugs in September-October before freeze-up.
