BLM Bodie Hills Dispersed Area
This elevated dispersed area sits above 8,000 feet on the eastern slopes of the Bodie Hills, offering expansive views across Mono Lake to the Sierra Nevada range. Multiple pullouts along rough dirt roads provide camping spots for self-contained rigs, with established fire rings and minimal trash from respectful campers. Nights drop cold even in summer, and afternoon winds are common across these exposed ridges.
Access via Bodie Road (Highway 270) then south on rough BLM roads — high-clearance recommended for the better sites. Snow closes access October through May. No services or water; pack everything in and out.
