Rancho Santa Inés Desert Spring

Hidden palm oasis and natural spring tucked in the volcanic hills between El Rosario and Cataviña.

A genuine desert surprise — this natural spring feeds a small grove of fan palms and creates a green pocket in the otherwise stark volcanic landscape. The water runs clear and cool year-round, though it’s wise to filter or treat it. Local ranchers have maintained access for generations, and there’s an unspoken understanding that visitors are welcome to fill water containers respectfully.

Access requires a short hike from where you can park your rig on the rough track. The spring can be hard to find without local knowledge — look for the palm crowns visible from the main road about 15 miles south of Cataviña. Seasonal road conditions vary with recent rains.
