Catavina Pemex Station

Critical fuel stop in the heart of the boulder field desert — the last reliable gas for 100+ miles southbound with basic supplies and decent tacos.

This Pemex station sits in the middle of one of Baja’s most iconic landscapes, surrounded by towering cardon cacti and massive granite boulders. It’s the essential fuel stop between El Rosario and Guerrero Negro, making it a mandatory waypoint for any southbound overlander. The station stocks basic supplies, cold drinks, and surprisingly good street tacos from a small kitchen.

The pumps can be slow and sometimes one or two are out of order, so plan accordingly. Credit cards work sporadically — bring pesos as backup. The adjacent restaurant serves decent meals, and there’s usually a mechanic on-site who can help with basic repairs.
