Corral Hollow Open Space Dispersed Camping
Scattered along a network of dirt roads in the Diablo Range, this BLM area offers genuine dispersed camping within striking distance of the Bay Area but feels worlds away. Rolling grassland hills dotted with valley oaks, with sites tucked into small drainages and ridgeline saddles. Most spots accommodate 1-2 rigs with decent separation. No facilities beyond fire rings at some sites—pack out everything. Dry camping only, though seasonal creeks flow winter through spring.
Access via Corral Hollow Road from I-580, then several miles of decent dirt roads. High-clearance helpful but not essential for the main camping areas. Popular with motorcycle groups and target shooters on weekends, so weekdays are quieter. Closed during fire season, typically July through October.
